Introduction To Becoming A Professional Actor - From A Producer Prospective
Probably the most sought after career in North America is becoming an actor and achieving fame and fortune. Some people make it but most waste years chasing the dream only to discover they have been mislead by acting teachers, friends and the hype of Hollywood.Spending thousands of dollars only to find out that you probably never had a chance in the first place.Presently as a Film Producer, Director and previous off Broadway Producer ( for over 18 years) I too started my career as an actor where I studied at a highly regarded acting school in Los Angeles. Sure, I eventually was able to get my Screen Actors Guild status and even did some pointless bit roles on a few sitcoms but soon discovered after spending over 2 years and several thousand dollars I was going nowhere. I was in my early 30's and gave up a very lucrative profession which I spent years achieving, only to find that I may have made a mistake.
